What Are The Best Treatments For Drug Addiction?

Written by Nicholas Conn | May 28, 2024 2:10:41 PM

If you are struggling with addiction, you may be overwhelmed by all of the choices out there when it comes to recovery.

But don't worry - we are here to help you! In today's blog post, we will go through some support options and what they entail so that you can find the option that suits you best.

Here at Rehubs, we are here to help you to flick the switch and begin your recovery journey. Enough is enough, and now it is time to choose you.

Where Should You Start?

You should start by reaching out to family members or somebody you trust about what has been going on so that they can support you and help you decide on your options.

You should then reach out to an addiction specialist or a health professional so that they can help determine what they can do to help you.

They will be able to create a plan and guide you in the right direction towards recovery.

Treatment Options Available

There are thousands of resources accessible today, with the help of charities and organisations, rehab centres and remote rehab services you can heal from your addiction in a way that suits you.

Drug addiction is estimated to affect 1 in 11 people across the UK so it is a lot more common than you may think - and you are not alone.

Don't be afraid to reach out for help as it is not your fault - addiction is a disease and you deserve the proper treatment to overcome it.

Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab is where you will receive 24-hour care, in a facility where you will live for the duration of your rehabilitation.

You will be away from daily stress and potential triggers, allowing you to focus on your recovery entirely without distractions.

You will have access to a lot of different methods of support, such as support groups, therapy and 1-1 sessions.

You’ll also have access to medical support where you can be prescribed medication to help you with withdrawal symptoms.

Inpatient rehab can be expensive and you may feel a lack of freedom. You won't be able to attend daily commitments like work or school, and you will have to follow a strict daily schedule.

In most cases, inpatient rehab is best suited to those with a severe addiction, or a recurring addiction, or those with severe mental health problems.

Outpatient rehab

With outpatient rehab, you will receive therapy and support whilst living at home - unlike inpatient rehab, where you have to live at the facility.

Outpatient rehab allows for that little extra flexibility by still being able to attend daily commitments like work and school.

Outpatient rehab will include 1-1 therapy where you will be able to address your problem with a specialist and discuss how you are feeling with your recovery.

You will also have access to group sessions, where you will be able to talk in a group setting with other recovering addicts where you can empower and motivate each other.

This option requires a higher level of self-discipline and commitment, as you have to show up for yourself every day. This option is generally less expensive than inpatient rehab.

Home Detox

An at-home detox is where you will detox from your addiction in the privacy of your own home in a familiar environment.

You will receive support from a professional and have the option of medical support. You’ll also have the support of family and friends around you to make you feel a lot more at ease throughout the detox process.

However, if you have a severe addiction, you may be more suited to a medically supervised detox. The withdrawal symptoms can be a lot more severe and potentially dangerous.

An at-home detox is best suited to those with less severe addictions and more manageable withdrawal symptoms.

At-Home Rehab

If you have commitments and prefer privacy, the at-home rehab option is for you. You can access your rehab support at your fingertips, whenever you need it. No matter what time, whether it be in the morning before work, after work or on your lunch break, you will have the support you need.

Recover in a familiar environment where recovery becomes a part of your daily life rather than being the only part of your daily life.

At-home rehab is suitable for those who don't have an extremely severe addiction, have daily commitments and have a strong support system at home.

Support Groups

Support groups where you can be a part of a community of people committed to recovery can help you feel empowered on your journey.

While talking to family and friends is a great way to let out your feelings, they may not relate to your problem like those in a support group will.

Talking to people who also struggle with addiction, and sharing your feelings with them can make you feel less alone.

Support groups are great in addition to a recovery plan, or once you are recovered, attending regular group sessions can help you to remain sober.
