Relapse prevention is not a single session or a set of rules

It is a whole-person process that brings together psychological insight, practical planning, and sustainable lifestyle change.

At Rehubs, relapse prevention is introduced throughout the 28-day programme and formally consolidated toward the end of treatment with a one off 3hr sessions on a Saturday after you have completed 28 days, helping clients prepare for life beyond intensive therapy.

But why does this matter?

Relapse risk is highest during periods of transition.

By integrating psychotherapy, nutritional stability, physical regulation, and structured completion, Rehubs reduces the likelihood of relapse and strengthens confidence in managing real-life challenges.

Recovery is not just about stopping it is about staying well.

Psychotherapy is central to relapse prevention and focuses on:

  • Understanding personal relapse patterns and warning signs
  • Identifying emotional, cognitive, and relational triggers
  • Recognising high-risk thinking styles and behavioural loops
  • Developing alternative coping strategies and emotional regulation skills
  • Strengthening recovery identity and accountability

This work helps clients move from reacting automatically to responding with awareness and choice.

Where clinically appropriate, dietitian input supports relapse prevention by addressing:

  • The impact of substance use on nutrition, appetite, and energy levels
  • Blood sugar, hunger, and fatigue patterns that can increase emotional vulnerability
  • Establishing regular, sustainable eating routines
  • Supporting mood stability and physical resilience

Stabilising nutrition reduces physiological stress, which in turn lowers relapse risk.

PT support contributes to relapse prevention by:

  • Reintroducing movement as a healthy regulation tool
  • Supporting routine, motivation, and self-discipline
  • Reducing stress and improving emotional regulation
  • Building confidence and a sense of agency in the body

Movement is used as a protective factor, not a performance target.

When This Happens in the Programme

Relapse prevention is:

  • Introduced early through psychotherapy and group work
  • Developed progressively across the 28 days
  • Consolidated toward the end of the programme through focused sessions

This culminates in a structured Relapse Prevention Intensive, where clients bring together psychological insight, lifestyle planning, and practical strategies into a clear, personalised plan.

Graduation is a core part of the treatment pathway, providing psychological closure while maintaining continuity through continued support.

Graduation day: Saturday, 12:30pm – 3:30pm

At the end of the 28-Day Programme, clients are expected to attend a Graduation Session, which formally consolidates relapse prevention work and marks the transition into long-term aftercare. For which you will then receive your certificate of completion via the app.

Graduation supports:

  • Reflection on psychological and behavioural change
  • Integration of relapse prevention strategies
  • Recognition of commitment and progress
  • Reinforcement of accountability and recovery identity
  • A clear transition from intensive treatment into ongoing aftercare
